| Thank you for visiting our website! There are *LOTS* of new things to tell you about. First is that we are back to casting the 9" Split Granite Wall Multi-Scale Turntable Pit is an all new product-Smooth-On which is tinted a Light Granite Grey! This little extra save YOU a ton of work finishing this item. Take a look! BTW We have the master for a Steel Turntable for this Pit almost ready to cast. Look for this item soon! Also in the *NEW* items are the "Tanks n' Stuff" products. There are Half-Buried Steel Tanks; Rectangular Tanks; Cylindrical Tanks; Inspection Pits and much more. You will find all these new products in the Doctor Ben's Fine Scale Products Category. And in case you have not noticed, we have reduced the price on the Baby Building Blocs-Doctor Ben's 2-Pounder SPECIAL! YEP! We found a supply of local material and now we pass the savings on to YOU! Another success story is that we have perfected the hollow-casting process of the Tower Sections for the HO Rubbles Depot kit. If you never built the 1979 version, Tom Yorke cast these two Tower Section with foam rubber inside and the instructions stated to pour Acetone inside the Tower Section to "melt away" the foam rubber. We felt that this was an unsafe technique and cast the section solid. So, for all you who take the time to read this and have already purchased our HO Rubbles Depot kit and would like to have hollow Tower Sections to better detail the interior, we have an opportunity for you. We have put a package together of the upper and lower hollow Tower Sections for $14.95. You have to show Proof-of-Purchase by either: Paypal Transaction ID/Ebay Item number that you purchased; or have registered on the www.DEBENLLC.com website and your sales history shows that you purchased the kit for our website. To take advantage of this offer (for now) you need to Contact Us via email of phone: 770/666-8100. Also regarding the HO Rubbles Depot kit, Charlie Getz has a review of this kit in the July/August NG&SL Gazette. One particular item that Charlie really liked was the resin-cast Standing Seam Roofing Sections, Corbel Supports, & Eve Supports. These sections are all cast in a Patina Green and fit like a glove, AND will fit the original Thomas A. Yorke HO kits manufactured back in 1979. We will have this set available in the next couple of weeks! Just a quick note: did you see the thumbnail of the SMM Industrial Engine Shed kit? YEP! That's right, this kit is being packed for shipping as I write this message. We have more images coming real soon! Another issue to let you in on is that we are *finally* managing the inventory of the Sequoia, Muir, FinestKind, & MilePost product lines. All items continue to be shown, but you will only be able to purchase those items that we have in stock. The good news is no more back orders! The bad news, you may not be able to purchase something that you really, really want. Fortunately, we are replenishing these lines on a weekly and sometimes on a daily basis. There are two ways that you can request an item unless it is "Temporarily Discontinued". The first and quickest way is when you are at the final page of your Checkout basket, there is a Text Box provided for you to include a message with your order. Simply copy & paste the name and quantity of items that you would like and these items should be available within a few days. The second way is to Send Us an Email with the list of items and quantities that you would like to order. We have been building the inventory as folks have ordered items and obviously, not everything has been ordered—yet. Meanwhile, have you signed up for our periodic newsletter yet? If not you may be missing out on some really cool opportunities and Tips! The *secure* Constant Contact subscription is at the bottom of each page. You have the options to Opt out, focus on a category and all kinds of other choices. We promise you that we will NOT use this newsletter to spam you will messages. And as always, we do NOT share our Customer Lists with anyone! Thomas A. Yorke Enterprises (NOW Scale Model Masterpieces) The SMM Industrial Engine Shed kit (#3110) is finally here! We have mock-up shots of the HO/HOn3 Industrial Engine Shed in the "Detailed Description" at the Scale Model Masterpieces link to the top left! I have to say that we have spent a great deal of time writing the instructions for this kit. From the feedback that we have received from the couple of folks that we have building this kit in both HO and O scales, all this hard work writing quality instructions has been really worth it. <Next Column...> | | | SMM Industrial Engine Shed NOW SHIPPING!!! YEP! That's right, this kit is being packed for shipping as I write this message. We have more images coming real soon! We know that when an experienced modeler opens this kit that seasoned model builder is less likely to follow the instructions step-by-step, but this is not the reason for going to all this trouble to write worthwhile instructions. At least 90% of the feedback we received when asking folks what is most important factor to them when purchasing a kit was instructions or the lack of instructions. And *finally* the wait is over! Since the HO and O scale kits are practically identical, so are the instructions. The HO/HOn3/HOn30 kit is available now and the O/On3/On30 kit will follow shortly. WHEW! This is great news.
HO/HOn3/HOn2 Thomas A. Yorke Rubbles Depot kit is now available and with the May/June NG&SL Gazette ad (pg. 36) these kits are flying off the shelf. Also, watch for the "Charlie Getz Review of this kit in the next Gazette. We already have an in-depth report from Charlie and changes are being updated at this writing. For all you who have already purchased this kit, you be able to find out about these updates on the soon-to-come SMM BLOG website. Stay Tuned. BTW The new HO/HOn3 Rubbles Depot is amazing! Just to give you an idea as to what to expect, included in this version is a Tom Yorke redesign changing the corrugated roof to a copper standing seam design. Also, Tom created eave & corbel supports all of which are resin cast a medium green resin casting—less painting for you! We have cast these parts to better represent in a patina green color for the roof sections for a weathered copper finish. There a dozen original Thomas A Yorke and Sequoia Models castings in this kit for the lots of detail sitting on the platform waiting for the next train. Debbie and I have re-written the instructions in an 8-page booklet format including a full-page centerfold of the re-drawn original kit Plans. We have detailed the construction process and even recommended a few Doctor Ben's products to help you build a winning contest model. Now who will be the first to start showing off their progress? More information coming soon. We are updating the information with pictures and details as I am able to take a break between casting sessions. If you like the first Rubbles Depot in 1979, you are going to love this version! Thank you to everyone who have ordered and be sure to tell your friends—you don't want them to miss out on this great kit, now do you! If you have any questions about your order please call or email. Our contact information is in the "About Us" link above to the right. L@@K for our very first advertisement in the May 2010 NG&SL Gazette and watch for Charlie Getz's Product Review in the following Gazette issue, too. In 1980 The Thomas A. Both kits come with the beautifully mastered casting of stone, wood, and brick. Tom originally used Hydrocal 30 years ago. Today we cast all of these products a neutral LabStone gypsum that is an earth tone color. You will find that this material is even more amazing when staining and repairing when necessary First offered in 1980, the "Goof Proof" staining and weathering instructions have been updated to currently available products including easy to learn staining and weathering techniques in "How-To #2: The ABC's of Staining Castings" instructional.
