D&RGW DURANGO 65’ STEEL TURNTABLE Bridge KIT #120 - HO SCALE Kit - BRIDGE, PIT, DECK BEARINGS AND WIRING INCLUDED
Turntable pits don’t have to be scary projects that tend to fall into pieces just when you are about to back your precious, expensive locomotive out of its stall. Here is your opportunity to spin that Narrow Gauge Locomotive around with ease; and not a lot of cash compared to the "other" combination products out there.
This 65-foot steel turntable is based on a standard design constructed by the Chicago Bridge Iron Company in the early 1900's. The turntable bridge is of riveted steel construction. Turntableof these turntables still exist and are very much in use even in the 3rd generation diesel era. The model is scaled from blueprints kindly provided by the D&RGW Railroad and from measurements of the turntable at Burnham Shops (Denver), Colorado.  s of this type' were provided by Chicago Bridge Iron in various lengths and were very common on most Midwestern and western railroads. Construction of this kit will require use of normal modeling tools. Soldering may also be required if the instructions are followed in building this kit as an operating table. BE SURE to use only a resin core solder or flux, not acid core.
Have available before, starting a good quality wood /glue, liquid plastic cement, 5 minute epoxy and one of ' the “super glues'' (referred to as CA/ACC in the instructions.). Carefully read the instructions and study the drawings before starting assembly. Carefully remove the styrene parts from the plastic sprues. Note that each mold set forms one side of the turntable bridge. Remove flash from the styrene and metal parts. Ejector pin marks on the inner side of bridge center section must be sanded smooth to allow correct fit of aluminum Center Block. Pre-stain all lumber with Doctor Ben’s Weathering Stains before starting assembly.
Please remember that a turntable differs from other structures in that it is an operating model which must work properly in addition to looking good on your layout. Follow instructions carefully knowing that upon completion you will proudly own the finest model available.
