COMING Very Soon!
In “Painting and Weathering Detail Castings”, Award-winning modeler, Dave Revelia will show you his techniques for creating incredibly realistic looking details for your model railroad structures. Dave’s techniques are easy to learn, and require basic materials. This 60-minute DVD focuses on several types of details, and the methods Dave has incorporated into his own modeling. Watch as Dave paints and weathers barrels, drums, workbenches, wood shelving and more.
Dave Revelia began modeling dioramas in his twenties, but it wasn’t until about twelve years ago that he made his work available for others to see. Inspired by articles in major modeling magazines, Dave worked to improve his modeling skills and in 2002 Dave won his first Best of Show award for a major contest.
After many awards in multiple contest settings and in many scales, Dave, often with other great modelers like Brian Nolan, now travels the country teaching clinics and sharing his work with others. In recent years Dave has become better known for his work in figure painting but Dave enjoys all aspects of modeling building from kit building to kit bashing to scratch building.
Dave takes pleasure in meeting other modelers to both learn and share techniques of contest winning modeling.

Building a fine model:
This model is very intricate so be prepared to spend many hours constructing it. Some of the assemblies are delicate so do only one at a time if you're not used to this type of fine work. In simple language DON'T RUSH and do everything neatly and correctly following our step by step instructions. Even if it takes several months to finish a model of this caliber is worth it. We took absolutely no shortcuts to give you a model that will stand up against some of the finest contest winners.
Most of the wood parts have been precut to length for you, but when the wood has to be cut by you, use a new single edge razor blade. For that "scale look" we used very fine wood and most of it has been color coded at one end for easy identification. We broke the kit down into 5 different sections and these are bagged and identified for you. Each section is explained as you go along.
This kit has many wood parts, so be very careful and don't use the wrong size for a certain section and find yourself short for another. The best way to identify the parts is to check the length according to the instructions. As you assemble each section we suggest you place a small note identifying the wood. Lay out the wood in neat piles with the note in front, and keep in mind DO NOT mix up the pieces.
This kit is to be built using the board by board technique, a little more time consuming than scribed wood but absolutely no comparison between the two. We strongly suggest you build your model on a wood base and then install it onto your layout. This is described as you go along in the text. Any wood parts or castings missing, damaged or not formed right will be replaced immediately only direct from us, but please send some identification such as the box flap. Some of the smaller metal parts are cast on a main piece. Do not break them off but use a single edge razor blade to remove them.
So let's get started on this beautiful all wood craftsman kit and as you go, keep in mind the most important thing. In the words of George Sellios, "RELAX AND ENJOY YOURSELF . . . . . after all that's what the world's most fascinating hobby is all about."
And you know that you can buy from Fine Scale Miniatures Biz with confidence! We build what we sell.
