Anyone Ready for Fall Weather?

We’ve got a lot of stuff going as we try to catch up on orders & casting. Down in this Newsletter you will find the posting for a pair of "Brian's Boxcar" model railroad store signs that once lit up the darkened sky for a number of years in Largo, Florida. These signs went dark when Debbie closed her model railroad store in 1993 and we moved the entire contents of the model railroad store (and these signs) to Eastern Tennessee. We had planned on displaying the signs on the side of a barn one day. But it's been 29 years now and we’ve agrees it's time to share these magnificent signs with someone who will love them as much as we do.
Every day we are seeing lots of new Visitors who love the look of our brand new Scale Model Masterpieces And our Doctor Ben's Website!  We still need to do a little more editing to Product Descriptions and that will come over time. So be sure to look for the "Questionnaire" at the bottom your Checkout Payment page where you are “encouraged” to Make Comments before paying for your online purchases; and tell us your modeling scales. This is very helpful for us to send a "scale specific" product material and sometimes OOPS! packets with you order!
Both Businesses are for For Sale and we continue to share this information in our Newsletters. We added almost 90 images of the equipment, tooling, material and such that are included in the purchases. Feel free to give us a call at 770-666-8100 or email at [email protected] There is a Referral Fee Reward for you when/if you if tell someone you knows who purchases one or both businesses.
Thank you very much for your continued business. We hope to see you in the Hobby Room and since this latest COVID variation is super contiguous please wash your hands; wear a mask & Social Distance when possible. We've lost too many friends to this deadly disease.

Doctor Ben's Weathering Solution Spotlight: Realistic Rust #1150 Ready-To-Use
Weathering Solution for Wood, Plastic, Hydrocal
©, Metal & Much More-4oz Jar & 8oz, too!

When I first began building Fine Scale Miniatures kits  (manufactured by George Sellios) many years ago, the part that I enjoyed the most was the weathering. Nothing irked me more than to build a model in a brand new, pristine condition. I began looking for something more that what the FSM instructions offered. Don't get me wrong, I owe a great deal of what I learned about building models from building early Thomas A. Yorke kits, Model Masterpieces kits, Builders in Scale kits, Timberline kits; heck, there's even a thing or two to learn from building the Campbell kits.

In my quest for the ultimate weathering process I remember that I found a four-step, four bottle product back in the 1980s that stated it came from the guy's driveway and I tried this for a while. I then I tried the 'Steel wool & vinegar rust' process. This I really liked, but the thought of the rusting processing continuing even after the application scared me. I tried flushing with water, but this washed the finer Doctor Ben's 8-Color Solution Set #2particles away, and I still was not sure that the rusting process had been stopped. I even tried sealing the finish with a dull coat—too labor intensive. And then one day I literally fell over an idea as I was helping my brother install some custom cabinets on a commercial job site.

The long story short is that although my formula has changed over the years, AND, a lot of folks have tried real hard to copy my Doctor BeHow To #1 Bookletn's products, but they still haven't come close. Several even posed as 'friends' to get the formulas. Today, you can buy various weathering powders (NOTE: some are just ground artists chalk and/or tempra finger paint powders), and there are folks are offering stuff used to tint wet concrete (yes, really!), but nobody—nope nobody— has a weathering solution OR an industrial weathering pigment that will perform anything like the Doctor Ben's products do.

And for the record, these are the very same Weathering Stains & Solutions that I have demonstrated in the many Clinics and Model Shows and used to finish the plethora of Fine Scale Miniatures (FSM), Master Creations, Sequoia Models, Downtown Deco, Thomas Yorke, Scale Structures Ltd, Evergreen Hill Designs, Model Masterpieces Ltd, South River Model Works, and many other kits (including quite a bit of Athearn rolling stock) Doctor Ben's How To Booklet #1over the years that have been recognized as award winning, museum quality models.

Using this Doctor Ben's Product: Weathered Rust differs from Realistic Rust in that it is more like the rust that you would see on old farm equipment sitting out in the field—dampened by the morning dew slowly etching away at the metal surface. This product is a topical application that does not affect the surface integrity of the model. This product has built in adhesive polymers that enable it to stick to any surface. Get too much on and want to remove it? Not a problem, read on about all the great uses in our How To #1 booklet and in our website Blog.. You will not be disappointed.

Doctor Ben's Weathering Pigment Spotlight:

Ready-To-Use Industrial Weathering Pigments for Wood, Plastic, Hydrocal©, Metal & Much More-2oz Jars & Sets, too!

As a single component of the Doctor Ben's Weathering Products, the Doctor Ben's  Industrial Weathering Pigments are an even more powerful tool in creating a realistic Models. Not a powder, not a chalk, the Doctor Ben's Industrial Weathering Pigments are very easily applied using a soft, but stiff, brush. However, be careful, a little bit goes a very long way!
Richard has been using the Doctor Ben's Industrial Weathering Pigments to tint Hydrocal© for years. Just a 1/4 teaspoon make a whole lot of difference when tinting white Hydrocal© to an earth tone color. Very cool! These are all great products and as we get more images we'll get them posted here as soon as possible! Plus, the Doctor Ben's Weathering products work best in conjunction with other Doctor Ben's Weathering Products as well as competitors' products--Hey, why not?
All Doctor Ben's Weathering Solutions are available in 2 ounce wide-mouth recyclable jars individually and in money-saving 27-jar & 8-jar sets as well as an 11-Color Pigment Sampler Set. All Weathering Pigment sets include the 8-page color Doctor Ben's How-To #3 "Turning Toys into Models" Booklet. Each of the How-To booklets have detailed descriptions instructing its use and the many modeling techniques used to get the most out of this product. As always, if you have questions, please ask!
