4%-12% USPS Mid-October Rate Increase Announced!

Just announced within the past week, the USPS will raise First Class Package & Priority Rates somewhere in the 4% to 12% range which could vary how fare the packages are being sent! Nothing was mentioned about the current changes in equipment removal and resource restrictions that has plagued service for the past month or more. All that said, a lot of big eCommerce companies are switching to UPS & FedEx for dependable, time-sensitive shipments--at a higher cost to the shipper.
So far we've been promoting the sale of our businesses mentioned a couple of weeks ago. We did receive a few questions of including the Shipping Room image and why. The answer is quite simple; several discussions that we've had with interested Buyers is that when both business are purchase by a single Buyer, the Buyer would get all of the shipping and packing materials as well. This is a turn-key opportunity which is exactly that--everything associated with the businesses is included.
So in my spare time, I've been able to work on the Doctor Ben's website. Although it's not quite done, it is up and functioning. Customers are accessing the website signing up for the Newsletter and placing orders. I've gotten a considerable amount  to the Scale Model Masterpieces website and and may have it up this weekend--just in time for Labor Day!.
A sign that Summer is about to wind down is that Georgia schools are back in session and we've been fortunate to have a few days last week in the middle 80 degree temperatures-WHEW! Guess we'll see you in the Hobby Room ... Please wear your face covering; wash you hands; and comply with social distancing whenever possible. Thank You!

Doctor Ben's How-To #4: "Hot Glue Casting" Booklet by Richard Bendever!   A number of years ago I was browsing through my old Gazette magazines and I picked up the January/February 1982 issue where I found an interesting article. In this long-out-of print magazine, I found an article about casting detail parts. In that article Terry Metcalfe described how he cast parts by melting beads of a thermoplastic called “Makit and Bakit” beads in RTV molds using an ordinary kitchen oven. I decided that this process was definitely NOT going to work for me.
As a former Mold Maker/Tool & Die maker, I am quite familiar with the plastic injection process...  Read More ...
