Need Good Weather? Try Doctor Ben's!

Well it's been almost three weeks and we are very close to getting caught with orders that have come in over the holidays and since we returned home surviving twelve inched-plus of heavy, wet snow. WOW! And they have a Nor-Easter heard for them this weekend, too!
Most likely we will be headed back to Delmarva (Peninsula) sometime in late April to celebrate Mom’s 102ed birthday. We missed her 100th & 101th birthdays and depending how the pandemic is going will determine whether or not there will be a party. As we get closer to April we’ll have a better idea of what we’ll be doing.
A potential opportunity for being "weathered-in" during this pandemic is the opportunity to try your hand at weathering models. Weathering is often the final step after completing painting/staining a model/diorama. We repeatedly receive messages from folks about the water tank used in our Doctor Ben's logo (shown above right). No, it's *exactly* a SMM/Yorke tank (Part Number: SMM9002 is VERY similar). FYI Other SMM tanks are easily substituted. I'm hoping that one day I'll have time to make a construction and weathering video to demonstrate the simplicity of weathering a model to make it look more realistic. And for the record, this tank & base was originally a Schomberg Scale Models Product Review from way back in the eighties.
Sorry to cut this short. I've got a phone call shortly with a customer to help him chose some weathering todays and try his hand at the layered weathering technique that I've used for 40+ years. Believe it or not, it takes longer to explain it than it does to actually do it!  Hope to see you in the Hobby Room sometime soon...I’ll always be wearing a face mask and freshly washed hands!

Can Dr. Ben's Weathering Products be used on resin?        by Jim Cleveland
You may have used alcohol based weathering solutions with fantastic results on wood, or plaster kits in the past, but we are here to attest that they can also be used with fabulous results on resin kits as well!
True, the process is different because the resin is not porous, however, this can, in fact, work to your benefit. Keep reading and you'll see what we're saying. ... Read More Here
The Grocery
"Traveling the back roads years ago, one would happen across a tiny grocery store around every other bend in the road or over the next rise. Even today, these picturesque treasures can still be found. Wood siding deeply scarred by grain and rot and weathered a beautiful silver gray. Rusted tin roofing sheets all but covering the original wood shakes. Front porch sagging and with a decided lean... Continued on website

Doctor Ben's Industrial Fresh Dry Rust Weathering Pigment-2oz Resealable Jar ... Only from Doctor Ben's!!
Fresh dry rust is that color that rust becomes when a steel metal door slides across the the steel surface which leaves a fine residue of iron particles. Morning dew moistens the fine iron particles and the hot sun completes the oxidation process. No industry is immune to this process!
Doctor Ben's Weathering Pigments are intensely strong but easily thinned with Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol (or water) to reduce its preferred intensity. Using Doctor Ben's Weathering Pigments is ideal for adding the realistic weathered look by applying this product dry with a stiff hobby brush or using the lid for the jar to create a pallet from which various intensities may be created to flow into cracks and crevasses creating the illusion of shadows and depth. All this and much, much more is found in our Doctor Ben's How-To: #3 instructional booklet!
