Doctor Ben's Industrial Fresh Dry Rust Weathering Pigment-2oz Resealable Jar #DBZ1374
Only from Doctor Ben's!!

Fresh dry rust is that color that rust becomes when a steel metal door slides across the the steel surface which leaves a fine residue of iron particles. Morning dew moistens the fine iron particles and the hot sun completes the oxidation process. No industry is immune to this process!
Doctor Ben's Weathering Pigments are intensely strong but easily thinned with Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol (or water) to reduce its preferred intensity. Using Doctor Ben's Weathering Pigments is ideal for adding the realistic weathered look by applying this product dry with a stiff hobby brush or using the lid for the jar to create a pallet from which various intensities may be created to flow into cracks and crevasses creating the illusion of shadows and depth. All this and much, much more is found in our Doctor Ben's How-To: #3 instructional booklet!

Doctor Ben's Reefer White Weathering Stain
Exact match to Floquil 1980s Paint!

I've never been a fan of this bold white "color" except when high-lighting a raised surface where the a slight glimmer of sunlight might bring attention to a spot on the model. No more than just a subtle application is all that is needed to create the illusion of light reflecting jacks up the realism a hundred times!
Using this Doctor Ben's Product: Ever since 1991 we have offered Doctor Ben's Aged Driftwood Weathering Stain as a non-petroleum, identical color match replacement for the long defunct Floquil Flo-Stains© products; especially Floquil Driftwood stain made famous by the Fine Scale Miniatures kit instructions of the 1970s to present.
Thousands of jars of Doctor Ben's Aged Driftwood Weathering Stain have been sold with equally thousands of satisfied customers. This product is designed to be applied as a stain and should not affect integrity of the material to which it is applied. A good rule of thumb that we feel best describes the coverage of the Doctor Ben's Weathering Stains is that one coat will provide a light coverage; two-three coats will provide a medium coverage and four or more coats with build up, the more porous the surface, the more difficult it is to remove, so test a small less noticeable area before the Doctor Ben's Weathering Stain is applied to the entire model/project.  And Read about all the great uses in our How To #2 "The ABC's of Staining Castings & Models" booklet and in our website Blog (June 2015 Archives). "We Turn Toys into Models!".

Doctor Ben's Weathering Solution Spotlight:DBZ1154 - Doctor Ben's Weathering Solution

Weathered Rust #1154 Ready-To-Use Weathering Solution for Wood, Plastic, Hydrocal©, Metal & Much More-4oz Jar & 8oz, too!

When I first began building Fine Scale Miniatures kits  (manufactured by George Sellios) many years ago, the part that I enjoyed the most was the weathering. Nothing irked me more than to build a model in a brand new, pristine condition. I began looking for something more that what the FSM instructions offered. Don't get me wrong, I owe a great deal of what I learned about building models from building early Thomas A. Yorke kits, Model Masterpieces kits, Builders in Scale kits, Timberline kits; heck, there's even a thing or two to learn from building the Campbell kits.

Using this Doctor Ben's Product: Weathered Rust differs from Realistic Rust in that it is more like the rust that you would see on old farm equipment sitting out in the field—How To #1 Bookletdampened by the morning dew slowly etching away at the metal surface. This product is a topical application that does not affect the surface integrity of the model. This product has built in adhesive polymers that enable it to stick to any surface. Get too much on and want to remove it? Not a problem, read on about all the great uses in our How To #1 booklet and in our website Blog.. You will not be disappointed.
