When I first began building Fine Scale Miniatures kits (manufactured by George Sellios) many years ago, the part that I enjoyed the most was the realistic weathering and scenicing. Nothing irked me more than to build a model in a brand new, pristine condition. I began looking for something more that what the FSM instructions offered. Don't get me wrong, I owe a great deal of what I learned about building models from building early Thomas A. Yorke kits, Model Masterpieces kits, Builders in Scale kits, Timberline kits; heck, there's even a thing or two to learn from building the Campbell kits.
We NO LONGER have the four flavors of Doctor Ben's Rustic Lumber: Natural (#4300), Driftwood (#4301), Cresote (#4302) & Pickle (#4303). You can make these three products by"tinting" the Natural Rustic Lumber with our Doctor Ben's Weathering Stains to give them a more character. By the way, not to be a name dropper; but Brian Nolan (DECEASED) & Dave Revelia both used Doctor Ben's products to finish their award winning dioramas! So, in other words, if you want to make your models looks as bad as their models look, you have to use what Brian & Dave used for their models!
Doctor Ben's Rustic Lumber Instructions: We recommend that you DO NOT pay extra for the other three Rustic Lumber Products. Save yourself some money by purchasing the Doctor Ben's Weathering Stain of your choice (Oak, Pine, Driftwood, Durty Black, Antique White, Barn Red and 12 other Stains) and thinning them down you can create your own original Rustic Lumber! Each Package Contains 300+ Pieces of 3/64''x 9/64''x 5-1/2'' for N, HO, S, O, G & Military Models, too!
