Terry Bates "Salem Representative"

Below are few shots of "Salem Representative" as flown by Lt. Ralph "Kidd" Hofer. The day he got shot down, he was grounded for plane maintenance. But after a mission took off to attack a Luftwaffe field on the Hungary/Yugoslavia border, Hofer took off after them in a spare Mustang. His regular plane was QP-L, but he was shot down by flak in QP-X.  He was too young to join USAAF, so drove to Canada and wound up in a Spitfire until the  USAAF arrived and first used Thunderbolts and switched to Mustangs.
