Late-April Newsletter & Updates

Here it is darn near late-April and COVID-19 creating world wide havoc and tax time has been pushed back to July 15th. Our Governor of Georgia announced two days ago that he is relaxing the "Stay-in-Place Order. This is good news for the hair salons, exercise centers, tattoo & massage parlors, (and restaurants & Private social clubs next Monday), but nothing about part-time high school students coming back to work  Good Grief! It does cause me to chuckle a little when I think about those folks maintaining the "required" six foot distance from each other!
  B
elow is a re-post of our Doctor Ben's Weathering Product Spotlight series it's all about our Doctor Ben's Weathering Pigments and How-To Instructional booklet. Enjoy!
We received a call from a customer earlier this week (Are you surprised that a hobby manufacturer answers the phone?) wanting to know about "tinting" the Doctor Ben;s Weathering Stains. The short answer is yes; especially if you are using another Doctor Ben's Weathering Stain. He was wanting to increase the green tint of Mossy Driftwood and we suggested Orbisonia Green. Another question came up about occasional, small pigment lumps from not stirring enough. Yes, some stains require a lot more stirring than others simply because of the pigment density and sometimes room temperature slows the mixing process as well. The warmer the temperature; the easier the mixing process is to do.

Amazingly, the Jordan Vehicle kits are literally fling off the shelves and last count we're less than 30 kits. And for those who have been asking for a Gazette Flash Sale, we've reactivated the Offer at the bottom of this Newsletter ... We have been listing the Gazettes in our eBay Store to help clear them out of here. We really need the room ... See you in the Hobby Room and Wash Your Hands!!

Fine Scale Miniatures BOX, INSTRUCTIONS, ETC

So you stored you expensive FSM kits in the basement and there was a flood that damages the yellow boxes significantly de-valuing those darn expensive, collectible kits. Or, you want to build a model just like this kit, but you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars for a box of wood and metal castings.
This is your lucky day! Not only have we sold hundreds of FSM Instruction set to customers over the past 30+ years, but many of them used the instructions to guide them to build this model, too! There may be casting sets available for this specific model. By now were sold a few and listed some as Auctions in our Ebay Store where they have been getting quite a bit of attention. Ask us about them. More Info Here!

"Scale Products for Discriminating Modelers"

"Back Road Buildin's" The Grocery
"Traveling the back roads years ago, one would happen across a tiny grocery store around every other bend in the road or over the next rise. Even today, these picturesque treasures can still be found. Wood siding deeply scarred by grain and rot and weathered a beautiful silver gray. Rusted tin roofing sheets all but covering the original wood shakes. Front porch sagging and with a decided lean. And as though in staunch defiance to this earthly appeal are a multitude of colorful metal signs plastered everywhere advertising the contents of the interior: colas, soaps, cigarettes, remedies, staples, and clothing." (Introduction from original 1980's advertising in the NG&SL Gazette magazine)

The Grocery in O Scale is the first of this series with a bunch more to follow in both O Scale AND HO Scale. Above and at left is the "finished" Pilot Model images, where I finally found some spare time to finish applying the signs and adding the details that are included in this kit. If anyone is interested, this built-up model like some many other pilot models (still available) is For Sale.

And you will be amazed at all the "Options" of Extra Details, Doctor Ben's Stains & Solutions used for finish & weathering we have added to this kit which means huge $$$ savings for you!

This *original* 1987 Thomas A. Yorke Ent. kit has been slightly revamped with some modeling technique updates and details added as well as including a significant update of the instructions. Now, we know that we could have kept the price down even more if we cast this kit in Hydrocal©; and didn't have such high standards of casting quality (detail density bubbles, pits, voids, etc.), we just refuse to sell second quality castings. But, then if we did cut corners to save some money, you would not be able to appreciate een more the intricately, hand-carved details that Tom Yorke spent so many hours working on each and every original master pattern for this kit. Trust us, you would be able to tell the difference!

This kit includes Tom Yorke drawings, scale lumber, Grandt Line windows & doors, and the detailed construction and weathering instructions that you've come to expect from Scale Model Masterpieces including a bunch more stuff!

O Scale Foot Print: 3-1/8"wide x 5-1/16"" long. We'll bet that there are a few S/Sn3 Modeler who can adapt this kit to their scale, too!

Be sure to check out the website updates for this kit which now include options to add detail packages, and the Weathering Stains and Weathering Solutions described in the kit instructions used to complete this kit.
